Fans will soon experience a new level of connection next time they visit The University of Texas at Arlington’s (UTA) College Park Center, thanks to a newly upgraded Wi-Fi network.

The 7,000-seat multipurpose arena has worked in partnership with Cloud Ingenuity and UTA’s Office of Information Technology to design and install a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi system robust enough to keep all guests and visitors to CPC connected. The new Wi-Fi is ideal for CPC because it improves network capacity to allow more fans access at the same time at faster speeds. 

“In today’s world, our fans and guests look for first-class amenities when visiting College Park Center,” said Jeff Davis, executive director of UTA Special Event Facilities. “Part of that expectation is reliable Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing them to engage with family and friends, post on social media, and check the latest news, scores, and team stats. We’re excited to provide this state-of-the-art technology as we continue to enhance the event-day experience for our visitors.”

 

The new Wi-Fi uses MU-MIMO technology, which allows for eight times the number of concurrent connections when compared to previous generations of Wi-Fi, and also produces greater throughput and higher speeds.

• The network can support over 7,000 concurrent users
• Over 220 access points throughout the venue, meaning guests have coverage wherever they are in the arena
• The system uses Wi-Fi-6, the latest Wi-Fi technology
• Over $850,000 invested for the system upgrade
